Social Worker/ Case Manager

St Raymond Community Outreach (SRCO), a not-for-profit arts organization that provides services for children, youth and families, is creating a multi-service Community Center in Parkchester, a section of the East Bronx.  We are seeking a Social Worker or Case Manager to work with the Executive Director and Program Coordinators to develop new programs and expand our existing after school, summer and teen leadership programs. 

 

Program Management

  • Participate in monthly and long-term program planning.
  • Assist in developing strategies to engage young people and organizations from Parkchester in the programs and services offered by SRCO.
  • Provide counseling and referrals to program participants in need of supportive services.
  • Provide hands-on supervision, coaching and professional development workshops for interns.
  • Organize college and career support workshops and conferences.
  • Lead efforts to establish and maintain sound working relationships with agency partners.
  • Foster a team-oriented, supportive, accountable work environment at SRCO.

 

 

Qualifications: Experience in teamwork with a professional staff, and substantial experience in one or more of the following fields: group work or case work. Strong commitment to education and youth development; demonstrated initiative in program development; demonstrated ability to work well with diverse communities and strong analytical and decision-making skills.  Bi-lingual, Spanish- English or Bengali-English a plus.  This position offers an excellent opportunity for professional advancement.

Elementary After-School Program Coordinator

SRCO is seeking a Coordinator to run a 21st Century Community Learning Center at PS 106 in the Parkchester section of the East Bronx. SRCO is a multi-service organization in Parkchester that works in partnership with twelve local elementary, middle, and high schools to provide high quality youth development programs.

The elementary component of the program, ACHIEVE, currently provides homework assistance, and multicultural enrichment activities to Kindergarten through sixth graders, Monday through Friday, 2:30 to 6:00pm.  

The program coordinator designs monthly discovery units to broaden participants’ horizons.  Discovery units are culturally sensitive, accommodate a variety of learning styles, and engage youth’s multiple intelligences.  The program coordinator will recruit and train staff as necessary, and provide regular supervision and professional development.

Responsibilities:
-  Recruit and enroll students
-  Design program and assist in program evaluation
-  Coordinate participant  pick up
-  Maintain participant records including registration materials, attendance, report cards, surveys, etc.
-  Coordinate daily activities including tutoring, homework help, art, recreation, and snack
-  Serve as liaison between SRCO and 4 participating schools
-  Coordinate special events including field trips, holiday parties, showcases, etc
-  Supervise program staff
-  Prepare monthly program reports

Qualifications:

-  BA/BS in child development, education, or related field.
-  At least five years experience working with school age youth in after school or summer programs, with at least two or more years of program assistant, program coordinator and/or program manager experience required. Teaching credentials and/or experience desirable.
-  Experience designing developmentally appropriate lesson plans.
-  Must be an independent worker as well as a strong team leader/player
-  Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask
-  Strong communication skills
-  Strong office skills including data entry, word processing, fax, copier, etc
-  Bi-lingual, Spanish- English, Bengali strongly preferred

After School Group Leader (P/T)

After-School Group Leader 

SRCO is seeking part time group leaders to teach at an elementary after school enrichment program. SRCO is a multi-service organization in Parkchester that works in partnership with twelve local elementary, middle, and high schools to provide high quality youth development programs.

 

The elementary component of the program, ACHIEVE, currently provides homework assistance, and multicultural art enrichment activities to children between the ages of 6 and 12 yrs of age, Monday through Friday, 2:30 to 6:00pm. The group leaders teach monthly discovery units to broaden participants’ horizons. Discovery units are culturally sensitive, accommodate a variety of learning styles, and engage youth’s multiple intelligences.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Teach daily activities including tutoring, homework help, art, recreation, and snack 
  • Maintain attendance and homework records. 
  • Assist with coordination of special events including field trips, holiday parties, showcases, parent workshops, etc 
  • Supervise assistant group leaders.
  • Prepare daily reports
  • Pick up children from areas schools

 

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS (students welcome) in child development, education, or related field.
  • High School Diploma/GED and at least two years experience working with school age youth in after school or summer programs
  • Experience teaching developmentally appropriate lesson plans.
  • Must be an independent worker as well as a strong team leader/player
  • Bi-lingual, Spanish, Bengali, Twi, Wolof or Chinese strongly preferred
  • Experience working with children with special needs a plus.

 

Salary and Hours:

$10-12/hour based on experience

Monday-Friday 2:30-6:30
